Mary is Very Merry!

Mary is really excited about this upcoming adoption.  She says she has been working hard learning all the ropes of being retired.  I can say she has completely mastered napping and lying in the sun.  She is a silly girl for sure.  She likes her toys and loves tossing them all over the room while spinning and chasing them.  Mary would do best in a home with a family who enjoys her playful side and has time to spend with her.  She enjoys other dogs but her greatest love is being near her human caretakers.  She loves, Loves, LOVES people and has never met someone she hasn't greeted with a super happy tail and affection. She would be most happy if one of her humans worked from home or was only gone for 3 or 4 hours a day.  She loves children and will play with them but introductions should be done with supervision because she can get really excited and lose all hope of self control and jump up in her enthusiasm.  (We've been working on this a lot!) She jumps into and out of the car willingly but is not a super fan of long car rides.  We feel she can make really good progress with this if her forever family acclimates her with short trips at first.  Otherwise she travels really well.  She has been a total joy to foster.  She is so happy and only asks for love in return.  I don't think I've ever seen her down or unhappy, she loves life and is ready to shower her forever family with her entire "Maryness".

This nose is nosey!!
Mastered Napping!
Checking out the new neighbors - that's Mary on the left!

Friends

Mary likes to try to play with the kitties.  She's a bit too rough for them and they don't play tug with her but she still likes them.

Taking it all in like a champ.

We are moving this week.  Today the movers were here all day.  We kept Mary and our other dogs in our bedroom and a friend stayed with them to keep them company.  Mary was totally unfazed by the noise and commotion from the movers.

Naptime Is Important, You Guys!

Hi everybody!

Haven't been up to much lately - me and Deacon have been just trying to keep warm!

Naptime is the most important part of the day! (When you're living the retired greyhound life, naptime is most of the day!)

Adoption day at GEGR is tomorrow! I'm SOOOO looking forward to meeting my forever family. I sure hope I meet them tomorrow! Although, I wonder if my new pal Hedgie will miss me when I leave foster mom's house ...

Naaaahhhhh! I'm sure my forever family will have lots of new toys for me! :)

Snow? Meh.

Not too sure about this cold white stuff, you guys! Foster mom and foster brother Deacon tried to get me to play this morning, and FM even put two coats on me, but I was just too cold to play!

I checked again later in the day, but the snow was still there …

… so I decided to lay back down and ask for MORE BELLY RUBS!! I mean, if FM is home from work all day, what else would she possibly want to do all day but rub my belly?!?

I'm really getting excited about the GEGR adoption event this Saturday! I can't wait to get belly rubs from ALL THE HUMANS - especially from my furever family!

Ferocious! (but not really)

Foster Mom says I'm ferocious

ferociously CUTE, that is!

Hopefully my furever family sees this and comes to meet me on Saturday! Then THEY can give me belly rubs, too!!!!! MORE BELLY RUBS!!!!!

Foster pup field trip!

Foster Mom and I went on a field trip today! I jumped right up into the car - after FM showed me a yummy treat! Then I stayed calm and quiet all the way to PetSmart.

When we first got to PetSmart I was very excited! There were some other dogs there hoping to get adopted, and they were very friendly, but I was way more interested in exploring.

We walked all around the store and met lots of very nice people. I did really well and listened every time FM said, "no jump!" I also met a few other dogs that were there with their humans. Some of them weren't in as good a mood as I was. But I was still polite!
We also went to visit the kitties. They weren't too happy to see me, and honestly, I wasn't too interested in them, either. Not much for FM to take pictures of! But I got a treat (again!) for going in, so whatever. :)

I sniffed the food in the food aisle … and decided I'd rather have the food at FM's house.

Then I found the stuffies aisle!

Whew! I'm exhausted! It's nap time! I gotta rest up for another big adventure next week - the GEGR adoption event! I know you can't tell from the pic but I'm REALLY excited to meet you there!

YAAAAY for snow days!

Bad weather last week meant foster mom was home from work a lot - I love snow days!

Even when it's cold outside, my foster brother and I can catch some rays indoors…

FM being home for snow days means extra walksies, which means I've had extra time to practice walking on the leash with her. I'm doing better at staying focused on where we're going (I have puppy ADHD!) and responding when FM tugs on the leash. There are lots of cars here, but I'm handling it fine! Car noise is no big deal, but if I hear people or other dogs, they've got my total attention! I met a couple of other pups in the neighborhood and FM said I was very "politely enthusiastic," whatever that means!

In addition to extra walksies, snow days mean extra time to practice my cute camera poses! Ain't I the cutest thing?? I suuurrrrre hope my furever family thinks so - I'm posing for you!

I am a quick learner!

Hey there! I have been busy moving to a new foster home. It's pretty nice here. It's smaller but I get to look out at the courtyard at all the people and other dogs!

I'm getting along really well with my new foster brother, Deacon, and my new foster mom thinks I am just adorable! She even gave me a new nickname - "Proud Mary!"

When I first got here, FM took me and Deacon for a walk in the snow. I'm ok with snow, but I am still learning about walking on a leash the right way. Deacon and FM are trying to teach me, though!

One of the most important things I am learning from my foster brother is the art of relaxation!

I kinda got in trouble for that last pic - I'm not supposed to take my naps on FM's bed! Shhh!

My new FM is a teacher and today was her first day back at school - and my first time waiting in my crate all day. I lived up to my nickname, though - FM came home to a completely dry, accident-free crate! She said she is so proud of me and gave me lots of hugs and kisses (I think Deacon got a little jealous!).

I am learning so many new things and I can't wait to show them off to my furever family!
